What can I expect if I come to worship at New Horizons Church of the Nazarene?
Sunday Worship
At 11:00 am, we gather for worship in our sanctuary. Our services are about 60-70 minutes long and include a combination of modern music and hymns. We will be led in prayer at several points by our pastors and other leaders, even offered the opportunity to pray at the altar, if you would like. There is an opportunity to give toward the mission of the Church, after which we will remind ourselves and each other what we believe by reciting the Apostles’ Creed. Readers from our congregation will read Scripture from The Revised Common Lectionary each week; these passages provide the framework for our worship. There will be a sermon that hopefully challenges and encourages you from one of our pastors. And we celebrate the sacrament of Communion every Sunday. Everyone – no matter their membership or church affiliation – who recognizes and desires to receive God’s grace is welcome to receive the Eucharist.
Children in worship are encouraged. We have “goodie bags” available, filled with quiet trinkets for busy hands, and there is a gated area at the rear of our sanctuary for toddlers who might need to wiggle along with their caregiver. At about the middle point of the worship service, children will be given the option to come to the front of the sanctuary to receive a blessing before going downstairs for a specially tailored Bible lesson, which is led by our Pastoral Team and vetted volunteers from our congregation.
If you are unable to attend a service in person, we livestream our service every Sunday on our Facebook page, located here: https://www.facebook.com/newhorizonsnaz/
